Revolutionary War Round Table

Charles McDaniel, owner and resident of "The Sentry Box", the home General George Weedon built in Fredericksburg in 1768, lectured on the contributions of Weedon during the Revolutionary War. Thirty-nine Revolutionary War enthusiasts braved an approaching snow storm to attend the program at the Rappahannock Regional Library in Fredericksburg.

Walt Sheffield (below) President of the  Colonel Fielding Lewis Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, and founder of the Fredericksburg Revolutionary War Roundtable, welcomed those in attendance.

McDaniel brought several authentic items from his vast collection of Weedon memorabilia, including an original order signed by Weedon when he served as General George Washington's Adjutant General and a letter inviting James Madison to visit Fredericksburg where Weedon operated a tavern. Weedon's Tavern is shown below left.  The Sentry Box, as it appeared on a post card more than 50 years ago, is shown  below right.
