Compatriots
from four VASSAR chapters attended the annual Braithwaite Family reunion near Winchester,
and assisted in marking the grave of
Revolutionary War Private William Braithwaite, Sr.
Members
of the Braithwaite family of descendants are shown above along with members of the SAR. Front
row (L-R) Color Guard Commander and
VASSAR Third Vice President Jim Bayne (Culpeper Minute Men Chapter) and
VASSAR President-elect John Dickie (Fairfax Resolves Chapter). Other
members of the SAR include Bill Simpson (below right - Col. Fielding Lewis Chapter) who served as master of
ceremony for the program; Will
Simpson (Col. Fielding Lewis Chapter); Larry Moison of the Sgt. Maj. John Champe Chapter; and Don Bowers, Colonel
Fielding Lewis Chapter Secretary and the man who organized the program and arranged for the Department
of Veterans Affairs to provide the headstone (below left).
